Vice President John Nance Garner was very proud of Uvalde and what our location has to offer. He was especially proud of the guajillo honey produced in our area. This was the very honey that earned Uvalde the title of the Honey Capital of the World. He often sent honey to colleagues in Washington DC. To celebrate his love of honey, we are holding candle making classes, using beeswax. We will provide all of the supplies, including scents and dyes. The classes will be free and you can take your creations home that day! While waiting for the wax to set, you can tour the museum and see copies of thank you letters Mr. Garner received from former First Ladies, thanking him for pecans and honey. Light refreshments will be provided as well.
